Hot Chocolate


♪ The weather outside is frightful ♪, still. So if your still feeling the chill and you need a hot treat here is a easy guide to the perfect indulgent hot chocolate for you.

First things first, you need to know how to upgrade you hot chocolate skills, too leave the powder and forget the diet. This is a treat so why not make it naughty.

Pick out your favourite chocolate, white, milk, dark. Cadburys or Galaxy its completely your choice.
You'll need about 100 g of chocolate per 500ml mug but you can use more or less if you like, its your choice.

Fill your favourite mug with full fat milk leaving about a 3cm gap from the top (this is just so you make about the right amount) and pour it into a saucepan. Heat gently until boiling, remove from the heat. 
Break up the chocolate and add the chocolate pieces, stirring until the chocolate melts. Whisk vigorously until it starts to froth. 

Now comes the fun part, pour the hot chocolate back into your mug. You can top it with, marshmallows, whipped cream (this can be from a can but is so delicious when you whip up whipping cream yourself), grated chocolate, caramel sauce. Whatever you want.

Then you can curl up on your sofa or in bed, get comfy and enjoy.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Peppermint hot chocolate is a classic for a reason, it's super festive, delicious and really easy to make. I mean really easy all you need is to add 1 tsp of peppermint extract to your hot chocolate as your making it. Alternatively you can also stir in a peppermint candy cane.

Hot Chocolate Orange
Now I'm a massive chocolate orange fan and it is so delicious in hot chocolate form. For a dark indulgent orange hot chocolate just mix, full fat milk, dark chocolate, 1/2 tbsp of sugar and 1/2 tbsp orange zest (add more if you want it to be more orangy, but beware of adding to many bits to the mix).

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
Peanut butter and chocolate go together so well and can be mixed to make a thick, comforting and simply amazing hot drink. Simply stir in a heaped table spoon full of peanut butter into the hot chocolate, making sure it melts and full mixes. You can use less or more peanut butter, its down to taste. This is best with milk chocolate.

Nutella Hot Chocolate
Nutella hot chocolate, yes you read that right, and it is just as Delicious as you would expect. This is actually really easy to make because all you need to do is stir in two big spoonfuls of Nutella into hot milk. Its thick and chocolaty enough that you don't need extra chocolate. 

Irish Cream Hot Chocolate
Now for the grown ups out there you can make a lovely alcoholic hot chocolate by just stirring in Bailey's Irish cream, as much as you like. Yum.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
This is delightfully yummy, if you're a fan of salted caramel this is perfect for you. Simply add a generous pinch of salt to your hot chocolate and stir in 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce. And if you just want a caramel hot chocolate you can just not add the salt, simple.
