Tattoo's : what to wear while you heal

Healing a tattoo is actually harder than you imagine. But one way to make it a bit easier is to wear the right clothes.

You have to remember that a tattoo is a wound but unlike a cut you can't bandage it so you have to be sensible about what you wear.

Keep it clean. Like I said a tattoo is a wound so its important that you make an extra effort to make sure that your clothes are clean.

Loose and breathable. The last thing you want to do is to wear tight fitting clothes over your tattoo, it can increase the risk of infection and irritate your tattoo. For us ladies if your new tattoo is in a place that your bra or straps will be its good to wear it as little as possible for the first 2 weeks after and if you do wear it loosen the straps and wear it as loose as you can, but not too loose that its constantly rubbing on your tattoo.

Keep your tattoo covered when your outside. It's a wound so its good if you can cover your new tattoo and protect it from any dirt getting to it. Its also important to shield from the sun because the skin is going to be sensitive after a tattoo and exposing it to sun can cause damage to your skin and to the tattoo.

Sleeping. Sleeping can be a little difficult with a new tattoo. As well as making sure you have clean sheets that you also don't mind getting ink or any dischage from you tattoo on, it's good to wear clean loose fitting clothes that cover your tattoo that like the sheets you don't mind getting stuff on. It's also best to wear breathable fabric.

Wear clothes you don't mind staining. Like I've mentioned before a new tattoo creates discharge that contains excess ink from your tattoo. It can mark your clothes so probably best not to wear white, anything new or your favourite clothes.
